After looking over the list of briefs I have decided that I will attempt:
2. A promotional package for a new film, to include a teaser trailer, together with two of the following three options, a website homepage for the film, a film magazine front cover, featuring the film, a poster for the film.
In my coursework for last year I created the opening for a film which was difficult as it had to begin a story that would be continued through the rest of the film but also hook the audience. I think that a teaser trailer could be slightly easier as it has to set up the film but not reveal anything important to the film. It is inteneded to attract the target audience. This could be an interesting. The skills that I developed last year will be useful during the filming and the editing stages and now that I have had some practice I should be more efficient and avoid some of the problems that I encountered last year.
Reguarding the theme, last year I intended to create a thriller but that kind of went sideways and evolved into a mixture of two. I don't have a firm idea for a story yet but I would like to avoid doing a thriller this year unless I come up with a really interesting idea for one. I also would like to stay away from horror and action for obvious reasons that they will be complicated to do well. A drama how ever sounds like a good idea, possibly with a lot of darker scenes ? However at this stage I really don't know.
I am not very skilled on photo shop but this brief could give me the chance to develop the skills as I would need to use it to create a movie poster. Once I have an idea then I could reflect that onto the poster which I am looking forward to doing. Then its a choice between either a website homepage or a front cover of a magazine (they both sound terrible) but I will look for examples of each and make a firm decision at a later date. I will continue to add inspirational texts as and when I find them in order to keep my blog regularly updated.
This brief I believe could be a good way to extend my already existing ideas and be creative by thinking of shot types, storyboards, characters and hopefully get everything finished by Christmas so that I never have to look at it again.
